A family-friendly event introducing children ages 5–12 to the world of archaeology at this unique beachside museum in Niterói. Activities include a simulated excavation pit, pottery fragment identification, and storytelling about the pre-historic fishing communities who once inhabited the Itaipu coast. The museum, created at the request of the local fishing community in the mid-20th century, preserves and shares traces of human occupation spanning thousands of years. Children will also learn about the former Santa Teresa convent ruins that house the museum. All activities are free. Materials provided.
